In a major convergence between traditional Hollywood entertainment and social media, The Walt Disney Company and TikTok have announced a first-of-its-kind global content-sharing agreement. The partnership gives TikTok creators official access to Disney’s extensive media library, while bringing user-generated fan videos directly into the Disney+ streaming app.

Under the agreement, participating creators can use official clips, characters, audio, and scenes from major franchises, including Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Disney Animation, and FX, to produce short-form vertical videos.
Bringing TikTok Creator Content to 'Verts' on Disney+
In addition to publishing on TikTok, selected fan-made videos will be featured in a curated feed inside Verts, the mobile vertical-video feature launched on Disney+ earlier this year. This marks the first time short-form TikTok videos will be distributed natively outside the social media platform onto a major subscription streaming service.
To support the partnership, the companies are launching the Disney Creator Ambassador Program. The tiered incentive program provides top-performing social media creators with special perks, including:
Direct access to licensed video assets and character image libraries across hundreds of Disney films and TV series.
Extended reach through featured placement within the Disney+ mobile application.
Invites to exclusive red-carpet premieres, studio events, and career development opportunities.
Strategic Pivot Following the Sora AI Collapse
The collaboration represents a strategic shift for Disney as it works to engage younger demographics, particularly Gen Z and Gen Alpha, who increasingly consume media through mobile feeds rather than traditional television screens.
Industry analysts note the deal serves as an operational replacement for Disney's previous $1 billion licensing deal with OpenAI, which was intended to generate user-created video pipelines using the Sora generative AI tool before OpenAI decommissioned the project.
By partnering with TikTok, Disney leverages an established creator ecosystem that generates over 6.5 million film- and television-related posts daily.
Rollout Timeline and Expansion Plans
The initiative will initially launch as a pilot program in the United States over the coming months before rolling out across international markets. While financial terms were not disclosed, executives from both companies emphasized that giving creators authorized access to legacy intellectual property turns organic fan discussions into a powerful marketing engine for Disney's broader theatrical and streaming lineup.
