NetApp appoints Dell veteran as new channel lead for UK and Ireland

Sonya Mathieu has been appointed as the new Channel head for NetApp in UK and Ireland. Prior to joining the cloud software provider, Sonya was working as the UK director of data protection and cyber resistance for Dell Technologies, a company she has served for 8 years.

Sonya has also held sales leadership positions at Xchanging and Zentra Computer Technologies and it is this experience together with the connections she has gained over the years that she will be looking to integrate into her new role.

The new Channel lead will be tasked with expanding NetApp’s partner program as the company looks to solidify its position as a hybrid cloud provider in the region.

“I have long admired NetApp for the way the company treats its channel partners and partner ecosystem - its reputation is second to none,” Sonya said. “I also recognise that NetApp is leading the market in terms of working with and understanding the value to customers of working with the public clouds. I cannot wait to get started.”

NetApp first landed in the UK 25 years ago, long before the country grew to become the biggest cloud market in Europe. The company is in the process of revamping its leadership in a move to re-establish its dominance as a provider of multi-cloud solutions, hybrid cloud storage, and cloud data services.

They recently appointed a new vice president and general manager for UK, Piero Gallucci who will work together with Sonya to realize the company’s goals.

“I am delighted to welcome Sonya Mathieu to her role as leader of NetApp’s UK and Ireland channel programme. Her wealth of experience in delivering excellence in sales, developing high-performing teams and, most recently, leading on data protection and cyber resistance, will be a vital enhancement to our organisation,” Gallucci said.

“I am confident that Sonya’s passion, knowledge, and experience will make her a great addition to the culture and strength of the UK leadership team, as well as a brilliant support for our customers and our partners.”
