Syncro, a leading provider of IT and security management platforms for Managed Service Providers (MSPs), has launched an integrated cloud backup and restore solution for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID. The new feature, part of its Extended Monitoring and Management (XMM) platform, is designed to give IT professionals and MSPs a unified way to protect client data and identity infrastructure.

Addressing a critical security gap

While Microsoft provides some native data retention capabilities, security experts and analysts have long warned that these are not a substitute for a dedicated third-party backup solution.

A recent IDC report, referenced by Syncro, revealed that 60% of organizations have experienced unrecoverable data loss within SaaS applications over the past year. With the increasing reliance on Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), the risk of data loss from accidental deletion, ransomware, or malicious insider activity has become a top concern.

Syncro's solution goes beyond traditional backups by protecting both core business data and the identity infrastructure that controls access to it. It provides unified management for Microsoft 365 services like Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams, as well as Entra ID objects such as users, groups, roles, and policies.

"Backing up just the data isn't enough anymore," said Michael George, CEO of Syncro. "If you restore into an environment without your policies, roles, and permissions, you're not secure. Syncro Cloud Backup protects the infrastructure and the data, something most other vendors don't address."

Key features and benefits for MSPs

The integrated backup and restore functionality is a strategic addition to Syncro's platform, which combines Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM), Professional Services Automation (PSA), and now, advanced security features.

The new solution offers several key benefits for MSPs:

  • Unified management: MSPs can manage endpoints, tickets, and backups from a single console, eliminating the need to juggle multiple vendor portals and reducing administrative overhead.

  • Rapid recovery: The solution offers granular restore capabilities, allowing for the quick recovery of a single email, a user's entire mailbox, or a full Entra ID configuration.

  • Predictable pricing: The pricing model is a flat, per-user, per-month fee with unlimited storage, which provides MSPs with a predictable and profitable service to offer clients without the complexity of variable storage costs.

  • Automated provisioning and billing: The system automatically adds new users to the backup service and accurately reflects these charges in invoicing, ensuring MSPs capture all revenue without manual reconciliation.

  • Enhanced security & compliance: Backup data is encrypted and stored in Microsoft Azure data centers, helping organizations meet cyber insurance and regulatory requirements.

The launch of Syncro Cloud Backup positions the company as a strong competitor in the growing market for Microsoft-centric IT and security solutions, intensifying competition with rivals who have recently introduced similar offerings. The solution is now available in early access, with general availability expected on October 1st.
