Bechtle acquires UK’s ACS Systems as it continues its expansion to Europe
Bechtle, a German value-added reseller (VAR), has announced the acquisition of UK-based IT services firm ACS Systems as part of its ongoing expansion in Europe. ACS which is located in Northampton has been in business for 27 years now during which it has grown into a reputable managed services provider and a developer of data centres and cybersecurity solutions.
The company currently employs 93 people and its list of clients spans different industries and sectors including local companies, private corporations, and businesses in the public sector.
The acquisition deal is not the first time Bechtle and ACS are interacting. The two organisations have collaborated on multiple customer projects in the past and Executive VP for Bechtle in the UK, Konstantin Ebert believes that the acquisition will enable his company to offer more value to its UK clients.
“We see excellent prospects on the horizon of the British market with ACS,” Ebert who is also the Executive VP for Bechtle in France and Benelux said. “We already have a successful track record together and are very positive that, by joining forces, both companies can offer huge added value in terms of end-to-end customer support. The two teams complement each other perfectly.”
Although founded in Germany, Bechtle has had a foothold in the UK for over 20 years and specialises in offering various hardware and software solutions as well as IT services. It has two branches, one in Chippenham and another in Manchester and employs about 120 people in both locations.
Bechtle’s acquisition of ACS systems is the latest step in the company’s acquisition strategy that started with the diversification of its IT System House & Managed Services through the addition of new site locations besides the existing ones in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
ACS’ executive management team have not been affected by the merger and will be working together with the MD Bechtle UK to ensure seamless integration.
“Having co-founded the company, it was very important to me to know the company will be in good hands down the road, both for our colleagues and our customers,” said Jon Thorpe, ACS co-founder and CEO, who will remain as head of the company. “Together with Bechtle, we’re well poised to keep growing while ensuring consistent, long-term support for our customers during their digital transformation.”
