X (Twitter) will introduce two new subscription tiers

X, previously known as Twitter is set to introduce two new subscription tiers for its users, According to Elon Musk, the owner of the social media platform, these new offerings will complement the existing $8 per month subscription service known as X Premium.

The first tier is expected to be more budget-friendly and will provide access to all features but won't eliminate ads. Meanwhile, the second tier, likely to come at a higher cost promises an ad-free experience.

Recently, X initiated a testing phase in New Zealand and the Philippines where users are charged $1 per year to post and interact with others on the platform. This move is aimed at combatting spam and bot activity, and those who choose not to participate will only be able to read posts. It's unclear whether this $1 annual subscription aligns with one of the two new tiers Musk mentioned.

Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter in October 2022 and its rebranding as X brought about significant changes. These changes included reductions in trust and safety terms and the removal of the blue checkmark from non-paying accounts.

The blue checkmark was previously used to verify accounts belonging to public figures. Musk also reinstated accounts that had been banned on the platform.

However, these changes have caused concerns among advertisers. In July, Musk stated that X's cash flow remained negative due to a substantial drop in advertising revenue, coupled with heavy debt.
